Music
Full Plate Collection is a play with music, as opposed to a musical. This means that music contributes significantly to the play, but is not a major component, as in the case of a traditional musical.
The wildly talented Paul Deese created the music for the three songs featured in the play, as well as the important incidental music.
To hear a bit of Paul singing Betsy Crockpot's song, "Cookin' With Gas," click here. (You won't leave the site.)

A complete list of our contributors appears below. Thanks to all for your support!
We are grateful to Electric Power Inc. and Fruit 66 for their corporate sponsorships, and to Barksdale Theatre for loaning us The Little Theatre, and acting as fiscal agent.
In order to pay artists and cover the cost of materials, we also need the help of friends and family. Any contribution will make us ecstatic, of course, but we’d like to offer a special incentive to those feeling particularly magnanimous.
For your contribution of $100 or more, we will provide two complimentary tickets to our special invitation-only event at Theatre IV on Saturday, March 13. A pre-event reception begins at 7:00, and after the play, you’re invited to stay and meet the cast and crew, who will raise a glass in your honor and offer to paint your house. If you can't make it to this event, you are certainly welcome to attend the play on whatever date suits you best, March 11 - 27.
We hope you can help, even if it’s just $10.
And if you can't contribute, we know you wish us success.
Please send your tax-deductible contribution to Barksdale Theatre (our fiscal agent), c/o Full Plate Collection, 114 W. Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220. It helps to put “FPC contribution” on the memo line.

The Process
This project is a collaborative process.
With 80% of the script created, director Keri Wormald encouraged the cast to bring their own ideas to the play-in-progress.
In the early rehearsals, each actor brought in a 'token of womanhood,' an item meant to be emblematic of a specific female experience.
The actors brought in make-up, intimate wear, an ERA button, important books and magazines, articles of clothing, and other items which sparked lively discussion about the politics and social expectations of women today.
In a subsequent rehearsal, the women talked about iconic women not mentioned in the play, such as Eve (as in Adam and), the bad girl or fallen woman, the witch or crone, the damsel in distress, and the warrior/goddess to name a few. The cast was challenged to find modern equivalents in our celebrity-driven female culture.
Improvisation plays a large role in a project such as this one. Director Keri Wormald chose actress who are willing to 'play,' that is explore the ideas in the play without scripted material. Wormald recorded the proceedings and noted dialog, interactions, or dramatic 'business' that added to the world of the characters, or the play at large. Later, the playwright would incorporate the best of those discoveries into the final script.
